From Self-Direction to Directing: Leading an Audiobook Performance

Many audiobook narrators self-direct; this session will give an overview of how to take the instincts you already use in the booth and turn them into the skills to direct another actor.
Whether you’re sharpening your own self-direction, curious about trying the director’s chair, or ready to add directing to your income streams, you’ll leave with practical tools you can use on your next project.
We’ll discuss:
* What goes into directing an audiobook, especially voiced by first-time author/narrator.
* What it takes to successfully lead remote sessions and manage communications.
* How to balance guiding the creative, the technical, and the emotional aspects of audiobooks.
* How to partner with producers to successfully shepherd an audiobook project through the recording process

Participants will select, perform, and receive feedback on nonfiction audiobook demos in a small group setting, and a select number of auditor seats are available for those who want to watch and learn from their PANA colleagues. Take the opportunity to polish your samples for your website or try out a demo and get real-time feedback from an industry pro.
