How do narrators find and work with great independent authors? How do you know which authors will be good business partners, and how can you reach out to them in ways that will prompt a response? Once you’ve got an author who is interested in working with you, how do you negotiate an agreement that will be good for all involved? Oh, and what’s the deal with royalty share?
This webinar will answer all those questions, and more! Whether you’re a brand new narrator or a seasoned pro, working with indie authors can be a great way for narrators to diversify their client base. This webinar will provide a deep dive into why you should work with indie authors and how to do it in practical steps.
Jennifer Jill Araya considers narrating audiobooks to be a dream come true. Jennifer’s training as a singer and cellist lend a musicality to her narration. A multi Audie, Earphones, and SOVAS award winner, Jennifer has narrated over 400 audiobooks. She also coaches creatives on the business side of art. She hosts two podcasts, the Starving Artist No More podcast, which digs into creative entrepreneurship principles, and Crafting Audiobooks, co-hosted with Sarah Beth Goer.

Robb Moreira is an established voice actor and has been in the industry for nearly a decade. He began his acting pursuits in the NYC Off-Broadway scene before making the move to voice over. Robb has had the pleasure of adding his voice to national commercials, video games, animation, eLearning and even voicing a spot that played during a Justin Bieber concert! His experience is vast and his approach is REAL.
IPA: Overview, Symbols, and Usage

An introduction to the International Phonetic Alphabet, or IPA. Appropriate for narrators at all levels, this interactive class will introduce and refresh the basics of IPA to provide a better understanding for accent and dialect study as well as general pronunciation research.
We will a look at the IPA and explore its structure and how it may be used as an efficient tool for orchestrating voices including the use of accents and dialects.
This class is for narrators of any experience level.
Lester Shane‘s many directing credits range from Shakespeare to premieres. He wrote for Biography, AMC and Discovery. His one-man show, Mortal Coil, in which he portrays thirteen characters in a hospice, played across the country and in Oslo under his direction. Lester works extensively as a speech and dialects coach.
Recording Yourself in Reaper

Whether you are changing DAWS or are trying to find one to start with. This course will teach you the basics of setting up Reaper and then recording with it. We will discuss the best practices of recording yourself. Lastly, we will also cover how to render your final files for sending your files off to your editor.
Once we have covered those basics there will be time for tips and tricks and questions.
Jen Blom marries her technical background, including software engineering and technical support for many companies, and her performer side into a unique view of the audiobook world. She is a self-proclaimed Reaper queen and along with narrating herself, she also runs Reaping Audiobooks, directs and engineers in studio, and coaches others.
