Meet the Candidates

Christopher Tester

What motivates you to serve on the PANA Board?

I have experienced the difference PANA has made to the audiobook industry firsthand, as an actor who only moved into audiobook narration just over two years ago. The resources, guidance and support has been an integral part of my own journey and I want to ensure that I can expand and pass on such opportunities to others

What strengths, experience, or perspectives would you bring to the Board?

I am an award-winning actor and voice actor who has recorded over 60 titles in the last two years. I also draw on 10 years of fulltime experience as a voice actor in other genres (video games especially) and 15 years of professional theatre. As a British-based actor who works extensively with American-based publishers, I bring a well rounded approach to a number of topics, especially marketing and social media (where I have an online following of 1 million across platforms) and acting craft, where I blend theatre practice drawn from Stanislavsky and Meisner with contemporary coaches such as PJ Ochlan.

What about the audiobook industry excites you and keeps you recording at the mic?

In a world that is getting ever more noisy, the stories we choose to tell and the way we to choose to tell them is only getting more important. Bringing a personal, human, VITAL connection to text rather than simply reading it clearly is where the craft will live or die. I’m excited by the possibilities of growing online collaboration, and how the industry is expanding into different areas with multi-cast projects.

What contribution would you like to make if elected?

Use my extensive marketing and branding experience to help members to present themselves in the best way possible. Use my social media knowledge to teach ways such platforms can be useful and even inspiring tools that invite opportunity rather than just exhausting obligations. To facilitate profound discourse on skill building and how best to practice the CRAFT of audiobook performance.

Anything else you would like members to know?

I have extensive workshop delivery and facilitation experience, specifically at the One Voice Conference UK and VO Atlanta. I know my craft, having been nominated for over 40 VO awards (winning two) and trained at the Royal central School of Speech and Drama. I would be deeply honoured to help shape PANA’s offering and really listen to what members feel they need.
