PANA’s mission is to advance education, recognition, and networking opportunities for a diverse community of professional audiobook narrators
Our History
Founded by Emily Lawrence and Emily Ellet in October 2021, PANA has grown beyond all expectations in just over four years of our existence, and we are very excited about launching “PANA 2.0″ with you!
- The First Year. 2021-22 started with an enthusiastic membership base and the Board and Committees worked tirelessly to fulfill members’ desires.
- PANA’s Second Year. As is what often happens with start-up nonprofits with ambitious goals, we began to experience high levels of burnout, turnover, and eventual volunteer and member attrition.
- The Restructure in 2023-24. Recognizing the need to streamline and focus our mission for long-term sustainability led to a reevaluation of our organizational structure and programming, and with the addition of a part time professional Executive Director, stipended staff, a new board and brand new non profit status, PANA’s third year brought us to new heights! Now in our fourth year we are scaling up and we are so excited to show you what’s up next.
- 2025–26: The Year of Momentum
With new flagship programs, unprecedented membership growth, and the successful launch of PANAcon and the Narrators of Distinction, 2025 marked a turning point. We surpassed 600 members—exceeding our goal by more than 20%—and built new pathways for education, recognition, and connection across the audiobook industry. Our DEI initiatives matured into measurable action, and our newly established protocols and strategic partnerships positioned us for even greater collaboration and inclusivity.
Now, as we move into 2026, our focus turns toward refinement and community. This will be a year for strengthening the foundation we’ve built—enhancing member resources, expanding producer partnerships, and creating even more meaningful spaces for narrators to grow, connect, and thrive. The momentum is here, and the story of PANA’s next chapter is just beginning.
