David Swerdloff
Board of Directors
I’ve been making a living using my voice for nearly 50 years.
For the last five of those years, I’ve been an audiobook narrator based in Pompano Beach, Florida (and a member of the Miami local of SAG-AFTRA).
Previously, I was a longtime radio personality in Washington DC and Baltimore. I was also on the air as a news anchor in DC – and as a journalist for 14 years at the Voice of America, where I hosted programs explaining US society to a foreign audience, and reported from locations around the world. I served on the AFTRA Board for what is now the Washington-Mid Atlantic local.
I joined PANA early on, and you may know me as either David Swerdloff or by my customary pseudonym, Dave Arlington. In addition to contributing my two cents as a member of PANA’s Advocacy Committee, I was instrumental in getting PANA’s Ukraine project across the finish line. As co-producer of the audiobook, I organized the material from 21 different narrators, wrote and voiced introductions throughout the book, did audio editing for musical bridges and story excerpts, created an Electronic Press Kit, and helped promote the audiobook to the media. I also narrated one of the stories.
I’m the author of two history books. And my math degree from Penn shows that I have an analytical mind. You can learn more about me – and my audiobook career – at davearlington.com.
