PANA Perks
New in 2024
PANArama
PANArama is a conversation series where PANA members join Hillary Huber in a relaxed conversation about getting cast in audiobooks. Each one-hour live event features a producer. After a little conversation, three narrators from varying levels, selected via lottery, have the opportunity to read a short excerpt and receive feedback from the producer on how to strengthen their reading.
Based on member feedback we are increasing our free options. PANArama is increasing to a total of 9 times per year. Hillary Huber will continue to host this informal conversation with producers and then 3 narrators, chosen by lottery, will have the opportunity to read and get feedback. That is 27 opportunities for PANA members to work with a producer.
Past producers include:
Jesse Bickford (Blackstone Audio)
Lisa Cahn (Hachette Audio)
Ally Demeter (Macmillan Audio)
Erick Black and Pete Cross (Dreamscape)
Nick Martorelli (PRH)
Legislative Tool
We have gotten back to our roots and are excited to launch a brand new initiative that is also free of charge. We have added a legislative tool to the PANA website that facilitates members looking to connect with their elected representatives. In addition, we have supplied the membership with a vetted template to use when contacting legislators about the current proposed NO AI FRAUD Act or other policy issues.
We are in the process of creating a stop light legislative alert system where PANA will contact members with action alerts coded green, yellow, or red based on level of urgency. This page also provides a link to housed articles and documents that relate to AI and performers as well as information on copyright, intellectual property, data laundering, and other topics around generative AI.
Zoom Socials
We are in the process of creating Veteran and Non-Veteran Narrator Socials, via Zoom, in alternating months to promote networking and monthly socials, free of charge
DEI Narrator Casting Database
We are proud to announce the launch of a DEI narrator database as a result of requests from industry professionals. We have housed the database to help with authentic casting and the database includes members who are BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and members who have disabilities (visible or invisible.) Access is password protected and has been made available to casting directors, publishers, and producers casting audiobooks. You can opt in if you want visibility for this authentic casting, free of charge.
